Engage don't erase

A recent survey shows that half of UK organisations are suffering from invisible employee syndrome. This is the term being used to describe when employees are not engaged with an organisation, so much so that their lack of presence and interaction with their employer is likened to being invisible.

In this survey, the key take outs were that:

  • Information sharing was delayed due to systems not being integrated
  • HR professionals felt hindered by their inability to do basic HR task on the move
  • Organisations are spending less and less time focusing on employees choosing to focus on customers instead
  • Over a third of respondents felt concerned enough by poor employee engagement that they listed it as their top priority

CEO at Fairsail who conducted the research said. “There is a danger that they are just being treated as hubots, or human robots, just showing up for work, doing their job, getting paid and going home, day in and day out. This can lead to drudgery, boredom and a lack of interest in the business. While customer focus is important for businesses, great customer experiences are unlikely to be delivered by a workforce that is not engaged or motivated.”
