As part of Corporate Culture Group’s Roundtable series, James Wates CBE, Chairman of Wates Group, will lead a private discussion on ‘How better corporate governance can help improve public trust in business’.

About James Wates

James has worked in the construction industry all his life and has been Chairman of the Wates Group since 2013. He joined Wates Construction in 1983, becoming Marketing Director in 1994, and was appointed to the Wates Group board in 1997. He is chairman and board member of several industry bodies as well as non-profit organisations. And in 2012 he was awarded the CBE for services to Construction and the Charitable sector.

Earlier this year James was appointed as Chairman of a new industry group on corporate governance. He is leading the group in drawing up the UK’s first ever set of guidelines for how large private companies conduct themselves. The group includes representatives from the Financial Reporting Council, Institute of Directors, the TUC and the Confederation of British Industry, amongst others.

About Corporate Culture Roundtables

At our Roundtable sessions we bring together a small number of people (senior professionals and executives), who would welcome an open discussion on the subject matter, based on their insight and knowledge. Refreshments are provided prior to an early evening start (5:30pm), where our host will share their views and experience before opening up the discussion to the wider group.
